Celebration concerts in Hyde Park to be held , to mark the opening and closing ceremonies of next year's London 2012 Olympics will be held in Hyde Park. Trafalgar Square and Victoria Park will also be transformed into free celebration hubs for the Games, with big screen broadcasts of the action, cultural activities and live music.Concerts ticket prices have not been confirmed, will be announced early next year.
“With the eyes of the world on London for the 2012 Games, we are creating a jam-packed programme of exciting events that will show the city at its very best and ensure as many people as possible across the capital feel a part of the celebrations," said Johnson Boris.
Each London Live site aims to offer its own unique experience with Hyde Park boasting the UK's biggest large screen and top music acts while Victoria Park will be more intimate, with an emphasis on 'have a go' sports sessions and evening cultural events.Trafalgar Square will be the main live site during the Paralympic Games but there is no information what, if any, events will now be staged at Potters Fields, beside City Hall, which was originally slated as a live site venue.
“We have a great pedigree of delivering fantastic open air events in Hyde Park and are excited to be working on delivering the same quality events in Victoria Park and Trafalgar Square for Londoners and visitors to the capital for the London 2012 Games. Our aim is to deliver one of London's biggest Olympic celebrations," said Live Nation's John Probyn.
Madonna is one to play a huge concert in London next year to coincide with the 2012 Olympics. We don't know when - yet.
